Membership & Subscription

MEMBERSHIP
The Gani Fawehinmi library membership is open to legal practitioners, journalists, researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as members of the public over the age of 18. Secondary School students may be admitted on special consideration.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Annual Membership
To apply, fill in an application form and submit along with
  • A letter of introduction from the student’s university faculty or department (Applies to postgraduate and undergraduate students only)
  • 2 passport size photographs
  • A proof of identity which may be any of the following:
    • Driver’s licence
    • International passport
    • National identity card
    • Students’ identity card (Compulsory for students)
    • Organisation’s identity card
If all the criteria are met, registration can be completed on the spot. Please download the Membership Registeration Form here

Short term use
A temporary pass may be issued for short term use under the non-membership category.

LENDING POLICY
The collections are for onsite consultation only. Photocopies can be made at a fee and in compliance with copyright law.

  • Audio-visuals
The OPAC provides access to information on the library shelves. It is easy to use and the results are displayed for the user to locate the relevant resources on the shelves. There is an advanced search facility for experienced users to narrow down searches and get more specific results.

The General Collection covers biographies, economics, education, history, politics and government and fiction.

The Law Collection comprises books, law reports and journals on Nigeria, Africa, UK, USA and India to mention a few.

The Archives of Newspapers and Magazines: The collection in the archives dates back to 1968 and includes Daily and Weekend newspapers, Weekly newsmagazines and Soft sell magazines and biographical entries for the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

EVENTS AND NEWS
The library’s events and news will be publicised quarterly on the official website and in the Library’s news bulletin(forthcoming).

OPENING HOURS
The library is open week days from 9 am to 5 pm.

SUPPORT THE LIBRARY
The Gani Fawehinmi Library and Gallery Limited welcomes your financial support as well as gifts of materials for the library. Donating books and other items The library welcomes gifts of books and non-book material from members of the public in all fields of knowledge.
Gifts of books and other resources received will be evaluated for their content and currency as well as their physical condition before they are added to the library collection. Books in poor condition may not be accepted. However, books found to be in good condition but have unsuitable content will not be returned to the donor. Such books may be offered to other libraries.
All gifts received shall be acknowledged in writing.
